        "content_html": "<p>Have you heard the <strong>IRS is phasing out paper checks</strong>, both for <em>refunds</em> and for <em>payments</em>?</p>\n<p>The transition isn&rsquo;t complete yet, but the <a href=\"https://www.irs.gov/pub/taxpros/fs-2026-02.pdf\">IRS just issued an updated FAQ</a> on the hows and whens &ndash; Such as:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>&quot; For now, checks and money orders will still be accepted.  However, the IRS strongly encourages taxpayers to make payments using existing electronic options.&quot;</p>\n</li>\n<li>\n<p>&ldquo;For all taxpayers with missing [refund bank account] information, the IRS will send letters to individuals using their last-known address on record, Once the taxpayer provides the direct deposit information or exception, the refund will be immediately released via direct deposit or paper check.         "content_html": "<p>🚨<em><strong>BOI enforcement is now officially on hold</strong></em> -&gt;</p>\n<p>The gist: While the legality of the law requiring BOI isn&rsquo;t currently being challenged (what all the hoopla was these last 4-5 months), <a href=\"https://fincen.gov/news/news-releases/fincen-not-issuing-fines-or-penalties-connection-beneficial-ownership\">FinCEN is now softening their approach</a>, viz:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>The recently published Mar 21 deadline is now lifted, with a different later deadline to be shared sometime before then</p>\n</li>\n<li>\n<p>Enforcement of BOI has been suspended while FinCEN updates their regulations to more closely target higher risk entities (rather than sweeping up all average small biz)</p>\n</li>\n</ul>\n<p>So the saga continues, but thankfully at least moving in a direction simpler for small business 🎭</p>\n<img src=\"https://micro.elements.cpa/uploads/2025/fincen-boi-enforcement.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"345\" alt=\"\">\n",

        "content_html": "<p>Not only is the <a href=\"https://marylandtaxes.gov/directfile/\">IRS' new <em>DirectFile</em> system going to be available in Maryland</a> starting next year &hellip;</p>\n<p>Maryland will also have its own &ldquo;FileYourStateTaxesMD&rdquo; platform that the same taxpayers can use to file their corresponding state return as well</p>\n<p>What does that mean? -&gt; Around 700,000 Marylanders will have the ability to file their income taxes for free using software created by the IRS and MD - wow.</p>\n<p>You do have to be sure your return is on the simpler side in order to qualify (since the platform can only handle some complexities), but if it does, this promises to be a great stride forward for streamlining tax filings for hundreds of thousands of people!</p>\n<p>See the link above for more info!</p>\n<img src=\"https://micro.elements.cpa/uploads/2024/md-directfile-elementscpa.jpg\" width=\"480\" height=\"600\" alt=\"\">\n",
