        "content_html": "<p><em><strong>UPDATE on DC tax law snafu</strong></em>: The <a href=\"https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-joint-resolution/142/all-info\">President signed the Congressional Joint Resolution</a> overturning <a href=\"https://micro.elements.cpa/2026/02/16/dc-tax-law-update-last.html\">DC Council&rsquo;s de-coupling from certain provisions of the OBBBA</a></p>\n<p>What&rsquo;s next? &ndash; DC hasn&rsquo;t released a response since the signing, but indications are that we&rsquo;re looking at least months for DC&rsquo;s tax forms and systems to be re-written. In a <a href=\"https://thedcline.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/cfo-letter.pdf\">letter written by the DC CFO</a> prior to the Congressional vote, he indicated the DC tax filing season could even find itself extended into the fall.</p>\n<p>We&rsquo;ll continue to monitor updates as they&rsquo;re available, but it seems pretty safe to say that DC returns will not be following a normal April 15 filing pattern this year.</p>\n<img src=\"https://micro.elements.cpa/uploads/2026/dc-joint-resolution-142.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"421\" alt=\"\">\n",

        "content_html": "<p><em><strong>DC licensing is about to get a whole lot easier</strong></em> -&gt;</p>\n<p>The <em>DC Department of Labor &amp; Consumer Protection (DLCP)</em> is in the process of:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Consolidating more than 100 business license categories into just 11,</li>\n<li>Introducing a revenue-based fee structure, &amp;</li>\n<li>Lowering upfront licensing costs</li>\n<li>Making it easier for new businesses to get started and for established ones to stay compliant.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>It&rsquo;s all part of the <a href=\"https://lims.dccouncil.gov/Legislation/B24-0301\">BEST Act passed in 2023</a> and starting to take effect, so look for the continued rollout of the new changes!</p>\n<img src=\"https://micro.elements.cpa/uploads/2025/elementscpa-dc-dlcp.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"492\" alt=\"\">\n",
